Demographic explosion

Scene from The Matrix

Agent Smith: I’d like to share a revelation that I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague and we are the cure.

U can believe it, u can’t denie it… Fact is that the demographic boom of our species has to come to an end; brutualy or in a kind we can cope with it!

Was Covid-19 a vaccine for overpopulation?

I’m not a believer of that kind of reflections, but I do remember a small conversation in Inferno, another movie about the effects of too many people on planet Earth. First Dan Brown illustrates the size of this growth:

“..”consider this. It took the earth’s population thousand of years-from the early dawn of man all the way to the early 1800s-to reach one billion people. Then astoundingly, it took only about a hundred years to double the population to two billion in the 1920s. After that, it took a mere fifty years for the population to double again to four billion in the 1970s. As you can imagine, we’re well on track to reach eight billion very soon. Just today, the human race added another quarter-billion people to planet Earth. A quarter million. And this happens ever day-rain or shine. Currently every year er ‘re adding the equivalent of the entire country of Germany.”

If u look back on the 10 ways in which our civilisation is coming to an end, U can trace the most of them back to this ‘single‘ cause!

  • Lack of water,
  • air- and landpollution,
  • food insecurity,
  • deforestation which triggers climate disruption ( due to changing water management ),
  • even warfare and racism in order to land enquires

are the feeding ground for the world as we seen it now!
